Polarity
Active and receptive poles in every reading — not about gender, about direction.
Two directions of energy
Polarity describes whether a piece leans toward projecting outward or receiving inward. We label these active and receptive in briefs, and masculine and feminine in full readings — borrowed from traditional energy language, not from who should wear what.
Active pole
The active pole is outward: boundary, assertion, structure, heat, clarity sent into the room. Pieces with a strong active signature may support speaking up, protecting space, or moving something forward.
Receptive pole
The receptive pole is inward: listening, absorbing, softening, holding, allowing insight to arrive. Pieces weighted receptive may support rest, intuition, emotional processing, or letting go.
Balance line
Every piece also gets a balance note — how the two poles dance in that specific design. Some are steady equilibriums; others tilt deliberately so you know what you are amplifying.
